Common Medication For Lowering Cholesterol


You may choose to lower cholesterol with a combination of medication and Vitality Living Method diet as per your doctors recommendation. If you are at risk of developing heart disease or having a heart attack due to high cholesterol levels, you are probably already taking medication. The most common cholesterol lowering medications are :

Statins: For lowering LDL cholesterol levels

Bile Acid: Sequestrants: Often perscribed alongside statins

Nicotinic Acid: This is Niacin (Vitamin B3) and is not related to nicotine

Fibrates: Lowers LDL and tryglycerides whilst increasing HDLs

Ezetimibe: Blocks cholesterol absorption and lower LDLs. Often used with statins.
